The application of garnet micropowder in the field of resin fillers is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
I. Performance advantages
‌Moderate hardness‌
The Mohs hardness of garnet micropowder is 7.5-8.0, which is slightly lower than that of brown corundum (hardness 9.0), and can avoid the problem of embrittlement of the resin matrix due to excessive hardness.
‌Cost-effectiveness‌
As a natural mineral, its price is lower than that of artificial abrasives (such as brown corundum), which can reduce the production cost of resin products.
‌Particle characteristics‌
It has a sharp angular structure, which can enhance the cutting performance of resin products; at the same time, the micropowder has a uniform particle size, which is conducive to the formation of a dense filling structure.
II. Typical application scenarios
‌Resin grinding wheel/abrasive tool‌
Replace 20%-30% of brown corundum as the main abrasive for large slices, angle grinders and other tools to maintain cutting efficiency while reducing hardness.
As a pore filler, it balances the hardness and toughness of the grinding wheel to avoid the problem of excessive hardness caused by pure brown corundum filling.
Epoxy resin adhesives
The filling amount can reach more than 60%, which significantly improves the wear resistance, compressive strength and corrosion resistance of the adhesive, and meets the specification requirements of building reinforcement materials.

Special resin composite materials
Adding 50wt% garnet powder to boron phenolic resin can form a high-temperature ceramic structure, improve ablation resistance (line ablation rate reduced by 44.05%) and mechanical strength.

III. Application effect
Stability: Good compatibility with resin binder, reducing interface defects.

Environmental protection: No free silica, in line with environmental protection sandblasting and abrasive production requirements.

Color adaptability: Black garnet powder can replace traditional black sand to meet the appearance requirements of products.

IV. Technical parameter reference
Typical particle size range: W40-W5 (about 40μm to 5μm).

Filling ratio: According to different resin types, the recommended filling amount is 20%-60%.
Note: In actual application, the micro powder grading needs to be optimized in combination with the resin type and product performance requirements.
