Difference between natural emery and artificial emery :
Natural emery , namely garnet sand, is a natural abrasive, which is directly mined from mines. The raw materials are screened and classified into abrasive materials without artificial smelting. Its processing time is short, the efficiency is high, and the price is low. It can make up for the short lifespan. insufficient. It is widely used in sandblasting and rust removal, waterjet cutting, filter media, grinding, wear-resistant floors, etc. It is roughly the same function as artificial emery. In appearance, it is similar to artificial emery , namely brown fused alumina.
The differences are summarized as follows:
1. Natural emery has not been artificially smelted, so its service life is shorter than that of artificial emery, but the price is also lower than that of artificial emery .
2. The chemical composition of natural emery sand is more complex than artificial emery, and it mainly contains SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, TiO2, MgO, FeO, CaO, MnO, etc.; the main component of artificial emery is Al2O3, and the content is higher.
3. The hardness of natural emery is slightly lower than that of artificial emery. Its Mohs hardness is 7.5~7.9, and that of artificial emery is above 9.0.
4. Artificial emery abrasives are more widely used than natural emery abrasives, especially in refractory and ceramic industries other than sandblasting, polishing and grinding.
